Frequently Asked Questions

  • Common symptoms/events that require an animal ER include: difficulty breathing, collapse, seizures, severe vomiting or diarrhea, bloody vomiting and/or diarrhea, inability to urinate/defecate, trauma/accidents, venomous snakebites, ingestion of toxic substances/ingestion of item that is not food, not eating or drinking, and sudden behavioral changes. If you’re unsure, call us. It’s always better to be safe.

  • ER vet visit costs vary depending on your pet’s condition and treatment. We always provide a treatment plan before starting care so you know what to expect. Financing options are available to support your pets care.

  • We are a 24/7 animal emergency and critical care hospital. No appointments needed or taken. We are a walk-in hospital. Your pet will be triaged upon arrival. Critical cases are given priority.

Don’t be alarmed when we ask what the “code status” is for your pet (this means attempting CPR on your pet if necessary). This information is required of all pets that we treat at VERGI, and does not mean we anticipate a life-threatening situation.

  • Bring a list of your pet’s medications and medical records if available. If your pet ate something they shouldn't have, like medication, rat bait, or food that is toxic to them, bring in the packaging if at all possible. You may need your ID; payment is due upon approval of treatment plan so please be prepared with a payment option, or ready to apply for credit. Your pet should be safely secured in a carrier or on a leash. For life-threatening emergencies, above all else, focus on getting your pet to us as quickly as possible.

  • Patients are triaged, meaning the most critical patients are seen first so wait times vary and may change. We will keep you updated.

  • You are more than welcome to stay in our hospital while your pet undergoes treatment.

  • Yes. Once complete, we send medical records to your primary veterinarian.

  • We accept major credit cards, Trupanion pet insurance (while other insurance is accepted, you will be responsible for covering the emergency care), CareCredit, Scratchpay, Varidi (vet program), cash, and checks. View all options in financing and grants.

  • While some emergency veterinarians treat a variety of pets, VERGI 24/7 specializes in cat and dog emergency and critical care.

  • If you’re ever unsure, call us immediately. Symptoms of veterinary emergency needs can be subtle, and early intervention can save lives.
